Shawn Casey serves as the Chief Government & External Affairs Officer at the Virginia Cannabis Control Authority. She joined the CCA in 2022 and oversees the agency’s licensing, regulatory, and engagement efforts. Before moving to Virginia, Shawn was a Senior Assistant Attorney General in Colorado, where she advised the state’s Marijuana and Liquor Enforcement Divisions on regulatory and policy issues for five years. Her legal career also included practicing at a boutique law firm in Denver and clerking at the Colorado Court of Appeals and the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado. Shawn holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia and a law degree from the University of Arizona.
